40th birthday party: who to invite + invites
Jun 12th, 2016, 7:14am
I'm planning a 40th birthday lunch at a nice restaurant in a couple of months. I have a list of people to invite, although I'm a bit unsure about one person on the list. It's a woman I know from my astronomy club and I only really meet up with her at astronomy nights, about once a month. I consider her a friend, although not a close friend but much more than an acquaintance. I get along with her well and I have known her for a few years. Would it be acceptable to invite her? I'm also inviting two other people from my astronomy club and they all know each other so she wil be in good company. Just wondering what other people think.

Also, how do I word the invitations, to let people know I will be paying for the lunch? I want to let them know in advance so their is no confusion.

Since you are paying, I believe  it would be an honor for her to even be invited.  I believe she will feel special and I think its a nice gesture.

If you are willing to pay for her, she means more to you than maybe you actually thought.

It's your party, invite who you want.  If she declines, no love least you thought enough of her to invite her.

As for the wording.  I don't believe you need to say anything about you paying.  If you send an invitation and it has a restaurant as the venue and you don't mention money...its just assumed that the host will be paying.

Just make sure you word it as the invited guest should only bring themselves unless you are allowing them to add a +1.

Happy Birthday
