bathroom basket
Oct 12th, 2009, 11:10am

I am running errands this week and need to get the contents for the bathroom basket. Please let me know what I'm missing. So far on my list I've got:
pump hair spray
purell
tide stick or shout wipes
hand lotion
safety pins
band aids
tissues
bobby pins

I used perfume samples, tick tacks, rolaids, extra pantyhose, maxi pads, tampons, tylenol, spray deodorant, clear nail polish and that's all I can remember.
Just to let you know, the kids took everything and made a mess. I was not happy considering I had spent alot of time and money on this.

A small sewing kit - like the ones you get at hotels are great...

body spray works if you can't find spray deoderant, tums, qtips (for makeup), lint brush, comb and brush, static guard.

I would forgo the pain relievers..alot of the venues now are taking them out of the baskets due to insurance issues (at least the ones I deal with on Long Island now).

Dont' know where you live. We have a Harmons drug store -with almost one full aisle of sample sized everything. I got alot of ideas from this site and just from seeing the samples.

Whatever you provide will be appreciated, but I think that most critical is the sewing kit, safetey pins, bandaids and tampons. Hairspray, and other beauty items are thoughtful additions.

And yes, the girls ravaged our basket as well, so if I had to do it overagain, I'd stick to the (unattractive) basics.

For my dd bat mitzvah, one of my friends made the basket it had everything. When my friend checked the basket at the end of service - everything was gone. This time around, I am only putting in pump soap, lotion and hand towels.

i think you have to assume that the basket is there for the party, and not expect to be taking anything home.  if we think about the bathroom basket as providing "emergency" supplies for the comfort and convenience of our guests i think it makes it easier to determine what is most important to include.  i included band aids, safety pins, a small sewing kit, tampons and pads, clear nail polish (for those who wear pantyhose), shout wipes or tide stick, inexpensive plastic combs, bobby pins and hairspray.  i think i added hand lotion - but that's not really necessary.  i did not include any otc meds (like tums, tylenol, etc.) because i didn't want the kids having open access to them.  i still think the bathroom basket is a nice extra touch.

I have never seen someone sewing in the bathroom during a 4 to 5 hour party.

I was a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding a million years ago.  The dress ripped at the seam and I used that sewing kit!  Smiley
