Cricut Expression - Centerpieces?
Dec 07th, 2008, 10:38am

Has anyone used one of those cricut machines to make BM decorations? They sell it at the craft stores and there's always an informercial on about it - how it can help with scrapbooking, school projects, art projects, etc. A co-worker of mine has one and supposedly you can get a particular blade for it that cuts thru foam board and the pieces can be as big as 23 x 8 inches. I thought about using it to cut shapes to add to my centerpieces. The crafty co-worker says it won't be dimensional enough - in her words "too flat" But I thought it would be a great way to get the shapes that I want and then I can decorate with glitter, ribbons, etc. It's not mine though, so I don't want to be too pushy.

So has anyone had any experience using the cricut and what do you think?

I dont have one,  wanted one last year for Chanukah, but  decided it was too expensive and I really didnt have alot of time for it ...but I did go to a couple of demonstrations, and I am not sure of the foam board. You would need the bigger one of the two they have available. I would ask to see how thick of the foam board could fit-I recall it was good for scrapbooking(which I try to do!), but I dont recall being able to fit thick foam board through. Maybe with the holidays-they have people giving demonstrations-Michaels, Joannes, and you can ask.
sorry I dont have a solid answer regarding the foam. Otherwise, it is a nice addition for die cut shapes-great for school projects.

I've tried unsuccessfully to get Judaica shapes/dies for a cricut machine.  the company never answered by email inquiries.  does anybody have Judaica shapes?  I don't know whether they're not made--or just aren't available in SoTex.

riddle-I have Judaica shapes for my sizzix machine-and although limited, they work. Smiley
I found some really nice Judaic stamps as well and that has helped me with my scrapbooking the Jewish holidays, BM crafts etc
