What do you do at a graduation party?
May 18th, 2007, 4:40pm

The time, place, and menu have been chosen, and the invitations have been sent out. Other than having alot of food, what do you do at a high school graduation party with a mixed group of family, friends, and church friends of vastly varying ages?

My son's party will have a live band for dinner music and after dinner dancing.  Somewhere in there we will be showing a power point....if we ever get our act toghther and get it made.  He will also be making a short speech thanking everyone for coming and whatever else.  We also have an MC who will be saying a few words about him.  She is a family friend who has known him since birth.  Grandpa and dad and etc. might say a few words.

Do a slide show of pics of the grad from babyhood until present, with music (see the grad song post for ideas). If you are not computer savy, find a friend or relative who is. This will be a tear jerker, I am sure!!! At the end, you could show a picture of the university they are headed to (if applicable). You could also include quotes that seem appropriate for the grad.
OR
Do a "This is your life..." presentation and include a secret, surprise guest (like a former elementary school teacher or long lost buddy).
OR
Have a red carpet and grand entrance for the grad, after guests have arrived and mingled. Band should play a fanfare. Have them escorted by their parents.
