Pirate Party Ideas
Nov 07th, 2006, 12:02pm

Hi I am planning a pirate party for my nephews 7th birthday. We want it to look like the inside of a pirate
ship, with all the treasure and stuff. Any ideas you might have on food, games ,decorations and inexspensive ways to
have the kids look like pirates. Also is it alright to ask parents to dress their kids in a certian colors to go with the theme. And for the girls how to include them in the costums. Any advise would be great.

I like the idea that youre letting the kids dress up as pirates. I suggest that the food will be some cake, pasta some pizzas and sodas. Games would be Pin the Donkey's tail, Get me (for example, Get me a rubber duckie! and whoever finds a rubber duckie first is the winner) and Find the treasure (Divide them into groups and give out maps and hints to the groups and let them find the treasure). This would be fun and interesting. Good luck!

A face painting like pirates is a very good idea.Decorating the whole place with artificial plants and coconut trees like an island is also good.

Cannon Ball Game Idea:

Cut two pieces of wood board into ship shapes, make a hole in it and use a pvc pipe as a cannon. Buy black balloons at the party store fill them up with water and you got cannon balls. Give each boy about 5 of these. Let them line up behind their ships. Shout "Fire" and watch the show!

I've seen fake tattoos using pirate themes. If you could find those, I bet the kids would LOVE them! An Easter egg type of search would be fantastic--except they could search for fake gold coins. And whatever games you end up playing, some one needs to walk the plank!

For a great table decoration use black tablecloths and lay fish net over them.

Try this for a party game! Buy or make a treasure chest. Have the kids toss bean bags into the treasure chest from a designated point. After each round move the point further from the chest.

This is a good site for party ideas and games also:

Hi! My best friend had her son's 9th birthday over this summer and they had rented a pirate ship bounce house! it was so awesome! The boys all dressed up in pirate costumes and played in the bounce house until we had to drag them out for cake and ice cream. I am not sure on their prices, I noticed their website does not post prices. But the company she went through was called Astro Jump. They have affiliates all over the country.

Good Luck!!

Ctalogues like Oriental Trading and Rhode Island Novelty are great places to shop for Pirate Gear. You can find them online. I would order pirate hats for all but stay clear of the plastic swords and guns.

Hand out eye patches and tie bandanas on their heads as they enter the party and maybe provide them with plastic swords and pirate pistols? You could do simple face paint (maybe paint scruffy pirate beards on?)
As for the girls..just dress them up like pirates too, it would be pretty sexist to do anything else IMO.

you can think about face paining..it wont cost mush. about party menu, i will suggest ham sandwiches, mini pizza,i think including sea food will be more suitable for the theme. even if it is not possible for all kids to dres like pirates you can give them eye patches.

Hi all,

I just found this whilst looking for party ideas myself.

I wanted to ask if anyone had used online treasure hunt games or knew if they're worthwhile or even safe to send them money?!

The ideas seem simple but great, I just don't like using sites for the 1st time is all! I'll try to find the website address for the one that seemed most appealing.

Any input greatly appreciated
