Title: Disney Themed Briday Shower
Post by Sciongrl on Jan 2nd, 2012, 3:55pm

Hello everyone! I signed up here to hopefully get some help planning my best friends briday shower. We have been friends for 20 years so I really do not want to mess this up! LOL She is obsessed with Disney but I am having a hard time figuring out how to plan an "adult disney" theme. I really do not want Mickey Mouse and Princesses, at least not in the childish form. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can turn a Disney theme into something more adult and classy? Any help is greately appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Sciongrl! Welcome to the forums :-D

I hope this isn't getting to you too late! I hope you're getting some good luck with your planning process, but in case you're still stumped, here are some ideas to "grow-up" a Disney theme.

1. Focus more on recreating a "Magic Kingdom" environment than making characters the highlight of the theme

2. Use a Fantasia theme and completely avoid the kids' characters... You could choose a particular scene or have different areas setup to reflect different scenes

3. Take some inspiration from live-action Disney classics like Mary Poppins or Bedknobs and Brooksticks. The films may be geared toward children, but you can also find ways to work them into an adult theme.

4. Get cheeky and do a Peter Pan theme. It will reflect your friend's love for Disney as an adult!

5. While I'm not sure if your friend's love for Disney extends to the theme parks, you could do an "International Food & Wine Festival" to mimic the Epcot celebration, setting up different stations with small bites from cuisines around the world.

6. If you get really stuck, you can incorporate the shape of "mouse ears" into your decor or even the food

Good luck and congrats to your friend!

I am still planning! Thanks so much for the great ideas! I really love the whole"Epcot" idea! I will run it by the other bridesmaids and see what they think :)

I am thinking of a Pocahontas theme for a wedding. I think that would be awesome.
