One great party favor idea and activity I've found is ordering custom tee shirts for each guest to personalize and color. It's a lot of fun and much more memorable than the typical goodies that are thrown away a few days later! One company called Colortime offers a bunch of different designs and even other products like cute bags and pillowcases. All the prices are very reasonable. Check out their website!

I don't know where you are located but bounce houses are always a great interactive for kids of that age. This one company my sister used (she lives in Atlanta) was called Astro Jump and they offer all different kinds of bounce houses and party rentals. They also had a snow cone machine that my niece and her friends loved because they got to make their own treats. I believe their website is astrojump.

Good Luck!

Spring Birthdays?

Why not host a Spring Garden Party!

So the weather is hardly putting a "spring" in your step. You've had it up to here with the snow. Don't let mother natures temperament stop you. Take charge! Celebrate all the wonders of Spring by bringing it inside!

Decorations
Decorate the area with dazzling colors;Yellows, Purples, Oranges, Pinks, Greens.  String and hang colorful paper lanterns, tissue pom poms or streamers.

Tableware
Cover your tables with brightly colored tablecloths. Mix up your dinnerware. For example; Yellow cups, Purple Plates, Green cutlery, etc. This will have your tables resembling a charming Spring garden!

Activity
Invite the little botanists to come and share a day of Spring. Each child will plant and decorate their very own party favor!
Depending on the age of your guests or time restraints, pots can be pre-filled prior to your guests arriving. If your feeling very adventurous; let the little conservationist do it themselves!!

Party Favors
What you'll need:
A bag of Spring bulbs, i.e.. Irises, Dahlias or Gladiolus, small clay pots, small dessert size plastic plates(for plant drainage), a bag of potting soil(two depending on size of party), small gardeners trowels, kids size gardeners gloves, wood popsicles sticks( name of bulb planted), a permanent marker(to write plants name and Childs name), craft paint, art brushes, craft glue, stickers, glitter (to decorate pots).
All these items can be found inexpensively at your local dollar store or large department store.
Be sure to gingerly wet each planted bulb(should be done by a grown up). Remind your invited gardeners not to forget to continually wet their new Spring creations!

Food
Keep it light. Keep it simple.
Having your planned event on or after lunch is usually best. This will allow your guests to have time to have a solid meal prior to your party. This keeps your food costs down by offering snack like foods at your garden event.
Cupcakes!  Great for smaller hands to grasp. You can dress these up by using different icing colors(keeping your color scheme in mind). Try applying precut flower appliqués. Appliqués can be purchased at any craft or baking supply shop.
Cookies! Bought or homemade. For you DIYers try "Spring Themed" cookie cutters; flowers, birds, watering cans.
Fruit/Veggie Platters. Use flavored yogurts for dip.
Cheese and Cracker Platters. Cube cheddar cheese in small bite sizes. Gold Fish or Ritz crackers are a yummy compliment!
Finger Sandwiches. Egg salad, Turkey or Ham are great sandwich fillers. Use an assortment of cookie cutter shapes(circles, squares or triangles) to make them stand out! Garnish your trays with pickles.
For beverages, always have a ample supply of drinking water; gardening is hard work! Try frozen lemonades or fruit punches. Low cost. Easy to make. Just add water! No fuss no muss.
*Please ensure you check with parents for any food allergies*

Most Importantly!!!!

Have fun!

Debra
